Sega has confirmed
yesterday's reports that Sega of Europe COO Mike Hayes will serve as president and COO of both Sega of America and Sega of Europe, now collectively Sega West.
Also announced was the promotion of Naoya Tsurumi, who for several years had served as CEO of Sega's game publishing operation in Europe and the United States, to the leader of the company's overall consumer business across Sega of Japan, Sega of America, and Sega of Europe.
Hayes, who is taking over for departing Sega of America president Simon Jeffery, who
joined iPhone game firm ngmoco to head up its publishing division, will report to Tsurumi under the new structure.
"I'm delighted to be heading up the Sega Western territories at such an exciting time in the company’s resurgence as a leading video game publisher around the globe," said Hayes.
"The management changes announced today will ensure that Sega’s Consumer Business is positioned for long-term growth and success."
Of the new structure, Tsurumi said, "This unified organization will better position Sega for growth across these key markets."
