Officials from Sega have released details of the company’s financial results for the six months through September 30. During this period net profit’s jumped 485% to a total of ¥5.93 billon ($54.47m), compared to just ¥1.01 billion ($9.28m) profit at the same time last year. During the same period sales dipped by just 1.8% to ¥93.47 billion ($858.84m). The rise in profits is attributed to brisk sales in its arcade division, with titles such as UFO Catcher 7 and The Key of Avaron. The company’s consumer video game division actually made a loss, although by a lesser amount than was originally forecast. The company’s full year forecast is for a net profit of ¥8 billion ($73.48m), up 162%, on revenues of ¥195.7 billion ($1.80bn), which will be down 0.8%.
