Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from February 19th, 2009, find Street Fighter IV outselling all competition on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America and the UK, while Star Ocean: The Last Hope and Demon's Souls lead in Japan. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the real-time public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. Wii Play (Nintendo), 4. My Fitness Coach (Ubisoft), 5. Rock Band 2 Special Edition (EA Games). Japan: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Taiko no Tatsujin Wii (Namco), 3. Dead Rising: Zombie no Ikeinie (Capcom), 4. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 5. Wii de Asobu: Metroid Prime (Nintendo). UK: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. The House of the Dead: Overkill (Sega), 3. My Fitness Coach (Ubisoft), 4. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 5. Shaun White Snowboarding: Road Trip (Ubisoft). As of this writing, Amazon reports that the difficult-to-find Wii Fit is currently in stock, and has remained in steady supply throughout the day. This serves as some indication that the title's supply shortages may soon be over. In the meantime, the title remains the single most popular software seller in North America by a wide margin. As Wii Fit continues to rule the charts, Rock Band 2 slips several spots from its second-place finish last week, taking fifth in this week's rankings. Wii Fit reigns in Japan as well, though newcomers Dead Rising: Zombie no Ikeinie (Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop) and a remake of Metroid Prime manage to make some chart headway in their first week of release. Xbox 360 North America: 1. Street Fighter IV (Capcom), 2. Call of Duty: World at War (Activision), 3. Halo 3 (Microsoft), 4. Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (Sega), 5. Left 4 Dead (EA Games). Japan: 1. Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Square Enix), 2. Star Ocean: The Last Hope -- Special Edition (Square Enix), 3. DoDonPachi Daioujou Black Label Extra (5pb), 4. Street Fighter IV (Capcom), 5. Shooting Love 200X (Triangle Service). UK: 1. Street Fighter IV (Capcom), 2. Left 4 Dead (EA Games), 3. Gears of War 2 (Microsoft), 4. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 5. Dead Space (EA Games). Street Fighter IV is off to a fast sales start in North America this week, soundly beating Call of Duty: World at War to become this week's best seller on the Xbox 360. Halo 3 remains a popular title this week, while Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection makes another top-five finish in its second week of release. Square Enix's RPG sequel Star Ocean: The Last Hope leads Xbox 360 software sales in Japan, as the debuting Cave-developed shooter DoDonPachi Daioujou Black Label Extra finishes third. Street Fighter IV maintains a strong chart presence, meanwhile, finishing at fourth in regional sales, as Triangle Service's Shooting Love 200X brings up the rear at fifth place. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. Street Fighter IV (Capcom), 2. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 3. LittleBigPlanet (SCEA), 4. Call of Duty: World at War (Activision), 5. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (Konami). Japan: 1. Demon's Souls (SCEI), 2. Street Fighter IV (Capcom), 3. Ryu ga Gotoku Kenzan! -- PlayStation 3 The Best (Sega), 4. Sonic World Adventure (Sega), 5. Skate 2 (EA Games). UK: 1. Street Fighter IV (Capcom), 2. LittleBigPlanet (SCEE), 3. Grand Theft Auto IV (Rockstar), 4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare -- Game of the Year Edition (Activision), 5. Resistance 2 (SCEE). Street Fighter IV makes a big impression on the PlayStation 3 this week as well, and manages to outpace the weekly presale numbers of the highly anticipated Killzone 2 in its first week of release. A discounted Grand Theft Auto IV also ranks high in this week's results, while LittleBigPlanet falls to third place in North American sales. Japan's charts see little change from last week's rankings, with Demon's Souls and Street Fighter IV remaining the PS3's biggest regional sellers. Sonic World Adventure premieres this week at fourth place, while Skate 2 manages to squeeze in at fifth. PlayStation 2 North America: 1. God of War II (SCEA), 2. Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 (Atlus), 3. God of War (SCEA), 4. Rock Band Special Edition (EA Games), 5. Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection (Konami). Japan: 1. Sacred Blade (Flight Plan), 2. Kidou Senshi Gundam: Giren no Yabou - Axis no Kyoui V (Bandai), 3. World Soccer Winning Eleven 2009 (Konami), 4. Ryu ga Gotoku 2 -- PlayStation 2 the Best (Sega), 5. Okami -- PlayStation 2 the Best (Capcom). UK: 1. Ben 10: Alien Force (D3 Publisher), 2. SingStar: ABBA (SCEE), 3. FIFA 09 (EA Sports), 4. SingStar Summer Party (SCEE), 5. SingStar '80s (SCEE). God of War II leads North American PlayStation 2 sales this week, thanks to a temporary discount in price at Amazon. The Game of the Year Edition of Galactic Civilizations II and Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II arrive this week to upset the usually stagnant North American PC sales charts, finishing at first and third place, respectively. World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King remains a top seller, meanwhile, as last week's sales champion F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin drops to fourth place. Nintendo DS North America: 1. The week's two biggest North American RPG premieres arrive on the Nintendo DS this week, achieving sales that rival even the chart mainstays Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. Nintendo's Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon debuts this week at second place, as Square Enix's remake of the Super Famicom-born Dragon Quest V takes fourth. The Disgaea series spinoff Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? tops PSP sales in its first week of North American release, surpassing long-time chart favorites like God of War: Chains of Olympus and Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow. Last week's top seller LocoRoco 2 drops to fourth place, meanwhile, as a returning Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII closes out the regional top five.
