Gamasutra's weekly column, "Saling The World", covers the top five sellers for every available platform in the United States, Japan, and Europe, providing an important update of sales patterns worldwide. This week's charts, with data taken from May 7th, 2009, find Patapon 2 topping the PSP charts in its first week of U.S. release, while A Ressha de Gyoukou DS and Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G lead portable sales in Japan. Data for "Saling The World" comes courtesy of the public sales information on Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and Amazon.co.jp, with sales split out for each platform and territory, and pre-orders disregarded. This results in a true sense of what games are selling worldwide on the real-time updated service, as follows: Nintendo Wii North America: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. My Fitness Coach (Ubisoft), 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. Gold's Gym Cardio Workout (Ubisoft), 5. Wii Play (Nintendo). Japan: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Wii Sports, 3. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 4. Shape Boxing: Wii de Enjoy Diet! (Rocket Company), 5. Monster Hunter G (Capcom). UK: 1. Wii Fit (Nintendo), 2. Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo), 3. My Fitness Coach (Ubisoft), 4. Rayman Raving Rabbids TV Party (Ubisoft), 5. Wii Play (Nintendo). Gold's Gym Cardio Workout returns to the Wii sales charts in North America this week after dropping in price at Amazon. Wii Fit and My Fitness Coach still hold the top two sales spots, while Mario Kart Wii remains at third place. In Japan, last week's top Wii seller, Monster Hunter G, sees a steep and sudden drop in popularity. The title falls to fifth place this week, as Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and Mario Kart Wii rise up to the top in regional sales. Xbox 360 North America: 1. Fable II (Microsoft), 2. Prince of Persia (Ubisoft), 3. Halo 3 (Microsoft), 4. Gears of War 2 (Microsoft), 5. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Activision). Japan: 1. The Last Remnant (Square Enix), 2. Death Smiles (Cave), 3. Gears of War -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Microsoft), 4. X-Blades (Ubisoft), 5. Dead Rising -- Xbox 360 Platinum Collection (Capcom). UK: 1. FIFA 09 (EA Sports), 2. Activision's superhero film tie-in title X-Men Origins: Wolverine debuts at fifth place in U.S. Xbox 360 sales, rivaling the weekly sales numbers of Gears of War 2. Fable II and Prince of Persia top the regional charts, while Halo 3 takes third. Elsewhere, Square Enix's The Last Remnant takes first place in Japanese sales, as Death Smiles finishes second. Last week's chart champion X-Blades falls to fourth place, while budget-priced versions of Gears of War and Dead Rising continue to do brisk business. PlayStation 3 North America: 1. Prince of Persia is a popular choice on the PlayStation 3 this week, thanks to a recent Amazon sale in the United States. The title surpasses Killzone 2 in weekly sales, leaving LittleBigPlanet and Resident Evil 5 to finish at third and fourth place. Killzone 2 ends its brief stay atop the Japanese charts, meanwhile, as a rereleased Senjou no Valkyria rises up to take its place. Demon's Souls finishes at third place, while Daikoukai Jidai Online: Cruz del Sur and BioHazard 5 take fourth and fifth. PlayStation 2 North America: 1. Samurai Shodown Anthology (SNK Playmore), 2. A heavily discounted Rock Band instrument peripheral bundle follows at second place, while Metal Gear Solid: The Essential Collection and Katamari Damacy remain top sellers from week to week. Professor Layton and the Curious Village retakes the top spot in U.S. Nintendo DS software sales this week, with Pokemon Platinum following close behind at second place. New Super Mario Bros. and Mario Kart DS finish at third and fourth, while Brain Age creeps back into the top five at fifth place. A Ressha de Gyoukou DS and Made in Ore continue to head platform sales in Japan, meanwhile, as Dragon Ball Kai: Saiyajin Raishuu beats out Rittai Picross to take fourth place. The digital download-only Patapon 2 is a sales success in its first week of release in North America, where it tops regional PSP software sales. Chart mainstays like Crisis Core, God of War: Chains of Olympus, and Liberty City Stories trail in Patapon's wake, as Sega's retro compilation Sega Genesis Collection falls to fifth place. The Japanese PSP charts find Persona at third place after a chart-topping debut last week. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G and ToraDora Portable! take top honors this week, as Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 3 finishes fifth.
