Today's Gamasutra round-up includes news on character actor and game voice actor Tony Jay's sad passing-on, a new camera system featured within the upcoming NHL 2K7, and a new freely downloadable module for Neverwinter Nights module, as well as the latest GameSetWatch posts, Serious Games Source news, Letters to the Editor, and Gamasutra job postings. - Character actor and game/film voice actor Tony Jay passed away on August 13 at the Cedar Sinai Hospital following a surgery to remove a non-cancerous tumor from his lungs. Jay was best known by video game enthusiasts as the narrator for Blizzard's MMORPG World of Warcraft. He also lent his voice to a number of other games, including Planescape: Torment, Forgotten Realms: Icewind Dale, and The Legacy of Kain. The actor was also known for his role as the voice of Judge Claude Frollo in 'The Hunchback of Notre Dame' and Megabyte in 'ReBoot'. A Royal Shakespeare actor, Jay is survived by his wife Marta and his son Adam. - Take-Two Interactive publishing label 2K Sports announced that the upcoming NHL 2K7 will feature a new technology coined Cinemotion, which combines new dynamic gameplay camera angle technology, cutscenes, player chatter and unique audio options. The newest game in the long running NHL franchise will include a new parametric camera angle during gameplay that maximizes the player's vision down the ice. This new camera angle specifically takes advantage of widescreen viewing, giving players the optimal perspective on all that's happening on the ice. The camera will also zoom in on the action as needed. NHL 2K7 will ship in September for the Xbox 360, Xbox, and PlayStation 2, and will be available during the holiday season for the PlayStation 3. - Developer Ossian Studios, which is headed by former BioWare producer Alan Miranda, has released a freely downloadable module for PC RPG Neverwinter Nights that was formerly to be released as a Premium Module for paid download before Atari cancelled the program allowing paid releases such as this. Titled Darkness over Daggerford, is the latest in the over 4,000 fan-created modules currently available for download, and is noted as offering 25-30 hours of gameplay, including many new creatures, features, and content. Darkness over Daggerford can be downloaded from NWVault. - The latest updates on Gamasutra sister weblog GameSetWatch include Bob Marley licensed for a trilogy of mobile phone games, a look at the popular board game RoboRally, and a collection of links covering Jason Scott's 'Get Lamp' text adventure, Zoe Flower working for Slant Six Games, and a homemade USB guitar for Frets on Fire. - Also updated today: Serious Games Source news, including efforts by a doctor to work with a developer on his serious training game, Letters to the Editor concerning Merchant Ivory and video games, plus the latest Gamasutra job postings, featuring openings from Collins College, Mad Doc Software, Namco Networks America, NaturalMotion, Rainbow Studios, Retro Studios, TOMY Corporation, Ubisoft, Waat Media, and Walt Disney Internet Group.
