- Daron Stinnett, former executive producer at LucasArts, has joined Perpetual Entertainment to act as executive producer for their PC MMORPG, Star Trek Online
. Stinnett's experience at LucasArts included roles on games such as Dark Forces
, and Star Wars Republic Commando
. “The massively multiplayer genre is the ideal way to realize the Star Trek experience,” said Stinnett. “I look forward to working with the team here at Perpetual to make a product that is not only a great game in its own right, but one brimming with the exploration, adventure, and teamwork that is the essence of Star Trek." is expected to hit shelves in early 2007.
- Buena Vista Games, the videogame division of Disney, has announced its acquisition of the gaming rights to the Turok comic book, currently held by Classic Media, Inc. A new Turok game will be developed by Propaganda Games, a Vancouver-based studio wholly owned by BVG. The game will mark the sixth Turok videogame, following Turok 1-3
and Turok Rage Wars
on N64, as well as the multiplatform Turok Evolution
. "With the launch of the new console and handheld game platforms, we feel it is the perfect time to redefine Turok video games," said BVG general manager Graham Hopper.
