- The San Francisco International Film Festival
has announced that the collected video game-filmed "machinima" works of Rooster Teeth Productions, including the Halo
engine-made "Red vs. Blue: Blood Gulch Chronicles" and the Sims 2
-adapted "Strangerhood" series, will be screened, along with outtakes and previews of upcoming works, on April 23rd, 25th, and May 5th. Rooster Teeth is often credited as one of the leading practitioners the "machinima" film technique, which has spawned a large film-related scene and a dedicated show on major cable network MTV.
- Take-Two Interactive has announced that the latest title in its Grand Theft Auto
franchise - Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories
- will be available in the United States on June 6 at a suggested retail price of $19.99. Liberty City Stories
is a PlayStation 2 adaptation of last year's PlayStation Portable game of the same name, with improved graphics and visibility. It is unknown whether or not the PSP iteration's current retail price of $49.99 - over two and a half times the price of the improved console version - will be affected by this announcement.
- Mobile game publisher Gameloft has announced a partnership with hotel heiress, television star and media darling Paris Hilton's parent company, Paris Hilton Entertainment Inc., which will see "several games" released through its "multiyear" agreement featuring Hilton's likeness. The first title in development is aimed at the teen market, with future installments, according to the press release, aimed at both an older female and male demographic. “I’m excited to collaborate with Gameloft to bring the Paris Hilton brand and the glamour of young Hollywood to the cell phones of all my fans around the world,” said Paris Hilton, the press release claims. “My phone has become an all in one entertainment device and mobile games are an integral part of that.
