Today's round-up includes news of a law suit regarding the well-regarded Masters Of Doom book, plus the marvellous news that the Dragon Quest Slime Controller will finally make it to North America, as well as the latest product news and today's job postings. - Michael Wilson, a former executive for the now-defunct Ion Storm, has sued publishing company Random House over statements made in the non-fiction book Masters of Doom, which Random House published in 2003. The book, written by David Kushner, alleges that Wilson took out a secret loan from company finances to buy a new BMW; Wilson argues that the loan was not a secret. Wilson, currently raising funds for his new Gamecock Media Group publishing company, is seeking $50 million in actual damages as well as further punitive damages against Random House. Random House plans to fight the lawsuit, saying that "should the prospective plaintiff choose to pursue this action, our expectation is that the court will find this claim completely without legal merit and factually baseless." - Peripheral manufacturer Hori, which established an American branch of operations with its Onimusha 3 Soul Controller and more recent SNES-style Game Boy Player controller, has announced that they will bring the Dragon Quest VIII Slime Controller to the U.S. concurrent with the game's release. The controller is shaped like the slime enemy, which has been a series mainstay since the first title, and has earned a place as one of the most recognizable monsters in video games. When not in use, the controller can be placed on a decorative stand to serve as a mini-statue. - Also updated today: product news including an update to Valve's publically-available Source SDK, and latest jobs including positions from Activision/Infinity Ward, Activision/Raven Software, Activision/Toys for Bob, Blue Fang Games, Davisville Game Studio Inc, Iron Lore Entertainment, Paradigm Entertainment, Inc, Rainbow Studios, The Art Institute of Portland, THQ Studio Australia, and Visual Concepts.
