Today's round-up includes news of somewhat unconventional Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07 Xbox 360 downloads, online registration open for the 2007 Online Game Development Conference, and Reuters reporting from Linden Lab's Second Life, as well as the latest Game Career Guide updates, Serious Games Source posts, GameSetWatch posts and Gamasutra job postings. - Major publisher and developer Electronic Arts has released several new downloadable additions for the Xbox 360 version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07, which ships on October 17. Interestingly, however, while most downloads for games have come in the form of new maps, weapons, or characters, these premium downloads offer otherwise unlockable content such as extra golfers or fairways, without having to play through the game to gain access to these features. 200 Microsoft Points ($2.50) can net players this extra content. Another 200 Points will yield the Maxed-Out Player option, which will set a golfer's stats to be 110 percent. Finally, purchasing the Pro Shop download for 300 Points ($3.75) will unlock all of game's pro gear. In addition, EA has released some premium content that cannot be unlocked through normal means, such as the Sunday Tiger, which for 240 Points ($3) will allow players to play as Tiger Woods in his signature red shirt. - Evergreen Events, organizers of the 2007 Online Game Development Conference (OGDC), announced that online registration for its inaugural event is now open. Between October 16 and March 2, 2007 early bird registration rates will be significantly reduced from the regular attendee rate. The conference is slated to offer a wealth of technical and creative information for the interactive game development community, and specific speakers are expected to be announced over the new few months. Those interested in registering for the event should visit the official OGDC website. - Major news hub Reuters announced that it will open up a news bureau within Linden Lab's popular online virtual world Second Life this week. According to Reuters representatives, the organization will begin publishing real world text, photo and video news for Second Life members, as well as news from within Second Life for real world readers who visit the newly opened Reuters Second Life news site. London-based Reuters' media correspondent Adam Pasick will act as the organization's first virtual bureau chief, going by the name 'Adam Reuters'. "As strange as it might seem, it's not that different from being a reporter in the real world," Pasick said. "Once you get used to it -- it becomes very much like the job I have been doing for years." - The latest updates on Gamasutra sister alt.gaming weblog GameSetWatch include an interview on MMOs as third places, the track list for Nintendo's upcoming Elite Beat Agents for the Nintendo DS, and a look at mods for Flight Sim 2004. - The latest updates on Gamasutra's sister site Game Career Guide include a feature on diversity issues in the game industry and news of the winners of FuturePlay's 2006 game competition. - Also updated today: the latest Gamasutra job postings, including openings from Artificial Mind and Movement, Destineer, Double Fusion, iWin, and LucasArts.
