Today's Gamasutra round-up includes news of the soundtrack for 2K Sports' upcoming NHL 2K7, Wild Hare Entertainment's establishment and future plans, and MoSys' 1T-SRAM technology being utilized within the Wii, as well as the latest GameSetWatch posts, SIGGRAPH news, and Gamasutra job postings. - Representatives from Take-Two publishing label 2K Sports announced that that independent rock music label Sub Pop Records, among others, will provide musical tracks for the upcoming release of NHL 2K7. The soundtrack will feature a mix of 18 songs, including tracks from Sub Pop artists such as Postal Service, Hot Hot Heat, Sleater-Kinney and Mudhoney. Other tracks featured on the game's soundtrack include Band of Horses' Wicked Gil, Hot Hot Heat's Talk to me, Dance with Me, Kinski's Hot Stenographer, Love as Laughter's Temptation Island, Mudhoney's Empty Shells, Nebula's Giant, and The Postal Service's Brand New Colony. The soundtrack is rounded out by additional tracks from Seaweed with Losing Skin and Sleater with Kinney, as well as The Constantines' Working Full-time and The Thermals' I Hold the Sound. NHL 2K7 will ship this September for the Xbox, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 2, and will arrive at retail during the holiday season for the PlayStation 3. - Dallas-headquartered privately funded publisher Wild Hare Entertainment announced this it has been established and currently has plans in place to provide independent developers a cost-effective alternative to the traditional publishing and distribution models in the North American retail market. The company has confirmed that by leveraging off of specialized server technology and unnamed Dallas-area investors, Wild Hare anticipates developing and releasing various current and next-generation platforms, including Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation 3's comparable download service. “Everyone is trying so hard to be innovative that the soul of our industry has become clouded. We want to work with our partners to create what made this industry so exciting...classics,” said Andrew Hoolan V.P. of Marketing of Wild Hare Entertainment. - While reporting the company's second quarter 2006 financial results, semiconductor memory technology developer MoSys today confirmed that Nintendo has selected its patented 1T-SRAM technologies within its upcoming Wii's graphics system. The single transistor bit cell used in 1T-SRAM memory results in the technology achieving much higher density than traditional six transistor SRAMs while using the same standard logic manufacturing processes. The company saw total revenue of $2.3 million for the period, and Chet Silvestri, Chief Executive Officer of MoSys, commented that MoSys anticipates “strong royalty growth from the success of Nintendo's Wii video game console" during 2007. - The latest updates on Gamasutra sister weblog GameSetWatch include a collection of links featuring digital console game downloads, EA's recent Electronic Arts conference call, and an ARG-based clothing line co-created by ilovebees' Elan Lee; an interview with Architectural Digest Italy and long time gamer Mario Gerosa; and a look at Mattel's recently announced "tween"-focused HyperScan console. - Also updated today: the latest news from SIGGRAPH 2006, including the debut of modo 202, as well as the latest Gamasutra job postings, featuring openings from High Moon Studios, Iron Lore Entertainment, KingsIsle Entertainment, LucasArts, and Three Rings Design.
