Today's round-up includes a confirmation that the latest Metal Gear Solid will be a Sony-exclusive title, news of changes to Namco America's mobile division, and well-deserved kudos for the Snake creator, as well as the latest product news and job postings. - Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima confirmed in an interview with Weekly Famitsu that Metal Gear Solid 4, the in-development PlayStation 3 entry in the series, will be exclusive to Sony's next-generation platform. Throughout the series' lifespan, each entry has originated on Sony hardware, but occasionally ports such as Metal Gear Solid for PC, Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance for Xbox, or Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for GameCube have been released. No such other versions will be in the works for part 4, though: Kojima said that "If I were to make games for the Xbox 360 or the Revolution, I'd rather create original titles that match each console's audience, instead of the Metal Gear Solid series." - Namco America's mobile phone division saw three promotions recently among its upper tier of executives. Scott Rubin is now Vice President of Sales and Marketing, where he will direct the marketing strategy of the company as a whole, as well as oversee relationships with Namco's mobile partners. Maurice Molyneux is now Director of Product Development, where he will oversee the creation of new games and software. Finally, Umesh Ghodke is now Director of Information Technology, where he will be responsible for the company's IT backbone. - The creator of seminal mobile phone game Snake has received a special commendation from the Mobile Entertainment Forum for his efforts on behalf of mobile phone gaming. Taneli Armanto received the award in person at a London event for the game, originally installed on Nokia 6110 phones. Over 350 million phones with Snake installed are believed to be in circulation, according to Nokia. In honor of the event, Nokia N-Gage Arena members will have the chance to chat with Armanto on Tuesday, June 28th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Pacific time. - Also updated today: product news including the release of the latest Maxwell Render beta version, as well as the latest industry job postings, including new positions from Disney VR Studio, NovaLogic, and Propaganda Games.
