Today's round-up includes news of a new industry roundtable on, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary heading to the PS2, PSP, and PC in 2007, and Cooking Mama: Cook Off officially announced for the Wii, as well as the latest Game Career Guide updates, Serious Games Source posts, GameSetWatch posts and Gamasutra job postings. - Officials from MTV Networks' have announced a new original series titled “Bonus Round”, which will be moderated by established video game journalist Geoff Keighley. The show will bring together recognized industry figures to debate controversial, relevant issues facing the gaming industry. Shot on GT’s’ new sound stage at MTV’s Santa Monica headquarters, “Bonus Round” will tackle topical issues and bring together a line-up of premier industry experts. The new show will be broadcast on as well as upon the website's distribution network. In addition, select parts will also be broadcast as part of the website's “TWITCH“ segment on MTV2. The first “Bonus Round,” premiering on Tuesday, October 31, will ask the question: “Can the PlayStation 3 Maintain Sony’s Market Dominance?” Debating the topic with Keighley will be two noted game designers: Grant Collier, president of Infinity Ward (Call of Duty 2), and Jason Rubin, co-founder of Naughty Dog (Crash Bandicoot, Jak and Daxter). Also weighing in on the issue will be video game industry analyst Michael Pachter from Wedbush Morgan Securities. - Eidos Interactive has confirmed that it will release Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary, a recreation of the original 1996 Tomb Raider title, for the PlayStation 2, PSP, and PC in 2007. The game is being developed by Crystal Dynamics using an enhanced version of the engine used by the earlier released Tomb Raider: Legend. Said Kathryn Clements, senior brand manager for Eidos, “Over the years we have had literally thousands of requests to re-make the original Tomb Raider for today’s gamer, we have gone a step further, we have taken the original story and made a completely new version for Tomb Raider: Anniversary.” - Majesco has confirmed that it will publish Cooking Mama: Cook Off for the Wii in early 2007. The game is a follow up to recently shipped Cooking Mama for the Nintendo DS. In addition, the company note that the Nintendo DS version will be showcased in approximately 10,000 retail demo kiosks throughout the United States in November. Through use of the Wii Remote, Cooking Mama: Cook Off will allow players to create more than 300 real-world recipes from 10 different nations. In addition, the game will feature two-player kitchen competitions to determine who can cook the best meal the fastest. Developed by OfficeCreate and licensed from Taito, Cooking Mama: Cook Off joins Bust-A-Move Bash! as part of Majesco's support for the upcoming Wii platform. - The latest updates on Gamasutra sister alt.gaming weblog GameSetWatch include the relase of the soundtrack to unrealeased arcade game Tokeijikake no Aquario, a a humorous video review of Kingdom Hearts II by MC Chris, and an interview with Introversion's Chris Delay. - News on Gamasutra's game education sister site Game Career Guide includes a feature that looks at a selection of introductory Maya tutorial books. - News on Gamasutra's game education sister site Serious Games Source includes info on two Virtual Heroes executives presenting at this week's Serious Games Summit. - Also updated today: the latest Gamasutra job postings, including openings from Dynamic Animation Systems, Pandemic Studios, Redtribe, Soundelux Design Music Group, and Ubisoft.
