Today's round-up includes news on a Game Boy Advance budget line in Japan, DDR-style weight loss, and a wireless Xbox AV connector, as well as the latest GameSetWatch posts and today's Gamasutra job postings. - Nintendo has announced a line of budget-priced re-releases for Game Boy Advance in Japan, called the "Value Selection." Games in the program will be reprinted and sold for 2800 yen each, a markdown of around 2200 yen from the average price of 4400-5400 yen. The first games in the program, due to be re-released on February 2nd, are: Oriental Blue: Ao no Tengai, Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis, Magical Vacation, Mother 1+2, Golden Sun, Golden Sun 2, Shining Soul, Shining Soul II, Summon Night, Summon Night: Craft Sword Monogatari 2, Moji Pittan Advance, Namco Museum, Pac-Man Collection, Mr. Driller Ace, and Family Tennis Advance. - Roxor Games, developers of In the Groove, the dance game competitor to Konami's Dance Dance Revolution series, is reporting that players of the title, like those of DDR, have successfully used the game to lose weight. "As soon as I stepped on the pad and started playing, I was hooked," said a player from Richmond, VA. "In a period of only 3 or so months, I lost more than 40 pounds playing In The Groove. It has really improved my health and self-esteem." The game contains a fitness mode to specifically assist in weight loss, allowing players to see how many calories have been burned during one play session. - Pulse~LINK has announced that its Gigabit-rate CWave Ultra Wideband system will be demonstrated on the show floor of the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas by acting as a wireless bridge between an Xbox 360's video output port and an HDTV. "Imagine seamlessly connecting the large screen Flat Panel display in your living room to all the other multimedia devices in your home- from the DVD in the bedroom to the video camera in the family room and more," said Pulse~LINK's John Santhoff. "These are some of the many CWave technology applications we will be debuting at CES." - Over at Gamasutra's recently launched sister game weblog GameSetWatch, new posts include a Protestantism mod for Civilization IV, information on one of Gauntlet's major inspirations, and footage of UPN31 Sacramento's Guitar Freaks moment, among others. - Also updated today: the latest Gamasutra job postings from companies including 3D Realms, Air Media, Blizzard Entertainment, Electronic Arts - Tiburon, iBase Studios, Incredible Technologies, Point Of View, RedOctane, Vstep, and Yager Development.
