Today's pre-weekend round-up includes news on a truly staggering amount of Xbox 360 consoles being sold on eBay, a new Xbox 360 Live Arcade title that will utilize Unreal Engine 3, and Babel's expansion in Montreal, as well as today's GameSetWatch updates, product news and Gamasutra job postings. - eBay president and CEO Meg Whitman has reported that to date, over 40,000 Xbox 360 systems have been sold over the online auction service, according to a Dow Jones report referencing her speech at the CSFB Annual Technology Conference. The figure represents a significant amount of the estimated 300-400,000 launch allocation of consoles, indicating that many "early adopters" of the system are just in it for the money. Online listings for the Premium package alone with no added games are going as high as $1,000, with most auctions ending around $600-$700, for a seller profit of $200-$300 dollars above the retail asking price of $399.95. - Naked Sky Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of RoboBlitz, a game using the Unreal Engine 3, to be launch on Microsoft's Xbox Live Arcade on the Xbox 360. The game is a physics-based action game with some puzzle solving, containing over 15 levels. “Releasing RoboBlitz through the Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox 360 puts us at the heart of digital distribution,” said Naked Sky CEO Tian Mu. “Xbox Live Arcade is a new, cost-effective way for independent developers like Naked Sky to get our console games to market.” - Babel Games Services, an outsourcing company for video games and interactive entertainment, has announced that the company's Canadian office has already grown to a headcount of 100 employees, 4 months after Babel's North American debut in Montreal. The Canada headquarters marks the third office for the company, with two previously established in Brighton and New Delhi. "Being in Montreal enables us to provide a North American presence for our cross-platform QA, translation and audio services, as well as to deliver a low cost, high quality solution to our clients worldwide," said Babel managing director Algy Williams. - Gamasutra's newly launched sister game weblog GameSetWatch has added new posts on a survey regarding Star Trek Online, the odd promotional tack for Sega's Ryu Ga Gotoku, and Pac-Man's extended transgendered game family, among others. - Also updated today: product news including the latest iteration of gDEBugger, and today's Gamasutra job postings, with positions from Activision/Infinity Ward, Amaze Entertainment, Electronic Arts, Nival Interactive, Perpetual Entertainment and UCSC Baskin School of Engineering.
