Rising Star To Publish No More Heroes In Europe

Rising Star Games announced it will publish the Suda51 (Killer 7) created Wii-exclusive title No More Heroes in Europe, following a previous announcement that Ubisoft would be publishing the quirky, anime geek-starring title in North America
Rising Star Games announced it will publish the Suda51 (Killer 7) created Wii exclusive title No More Heroes in Europe. Suda's development studio, Grasshopper Manufacture, has developed the title in conjunction with Rising Star's parent company, Marvelous Entertainment, and No More Heroes will release in Europe in February 2008 as a Wii exclusive. No More Heroes features anime fan Travis Touchdown, who becomes entangled with an assassin's organization whose ranks he must surmount. It employs the Wii remote as a beam katana, and features Suda 51's edgy, stylized graphical style. In a recent Gamasutra interview with Suda51, the designer explained his inspiration for No More Heroes, commenting, "I was inspired the most by the movie El Topo, by Alejandro Jodorowsky. I've always wanted to create a game like it, where the story progresses with a series of battles. In No More Heroes there's also a killer. I visualized the game to be one where this killer battles and defeats his enemies one by one with his light saber." Rising Star's managing director Martin Defries said the game would appeal to the more serious gamer on the Wii, which can be said to have few darker, more adult-oriented titles. "This is exactly the right product to broaden the format’s appeal to a wider, more serious gaming audience," Defries said. Commented Suda51, “With No More Heroes, we wanted to create a game that allows players to be able to jump right in and play. The Wii allows us to create an open world where movement and gameplay feel very natural.” No More Heroes is already confirmed for North American release via major publisher Ubisoft, where it is also due for a February 2008 release.
