Gamasutra's regular round-up of worldwide video game releases, "Release This!", takes a look at every game title we know to be shipping to stores this week, in an exclusively compiled list. This week brings Square Enix's Dragon Quest IX to the Nintendo DS in Japan, while gamers in North America get The Bigs 2 and Tales of Monkey Island. The following list covers all of the game software we know to be available -- across all platforms and regions -- for the week ending July 11th, 2009. Games Released in the United States: Nintendo Wii: - The Bigs 2 - Birthday Party Bash - CID The Dummy - Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (online) Xbox 360: - Battlefield 1943 (online) - The Bigs 2 PlayStation 3: - Battlefield 1943 (online) - The Bigs 2 - Trine (online) PlayStation 2: - The Bigs 2 - CID The Dummy PlayStation Portable: - The Bigs 2 PC: - The Hardy Boys: The Perfect Crime - Memento Mori - Street Fighter IV - Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 1: Launch of the Screaming Narwhal (online) - Trine (online) 2K Sports' baseball franchise sequel The Bigs 2 will debut across a majority of platforms in the United States this week, with a Nintendo DS port planned for release in September. PC gamers can look forward to a port of Street Fighter IV and the online premiere of Telltale Games' Tales of Monkey Island. Games Released in Europe: Nintendo Wii: - The Conduit - Fritz Chess Nintendo DS: - Fritz Chess PC: - Trine Frozenbyte's fantasy-themed platformer Trine will see a retail release exclusively in the UK this week -- the title will only be released as a digital download in other regions. Europe will also receive High Voltage Software's first-person shooter The Conduit this week, along with Fritz Chess on the Nintendo DS and Wii. Games Released in Japan: Xbox 360: - Major League Baseball 2K9 - WWE Legends of Wrestlemania PlayStation 3: - Major League Baseball 2K9 - WWE Legends of Wrestlemania PlayStation 2: - Major League Baseball 2K9 Nintendo DS: - Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito - Hayarigami 2 DS: Toshidensetsu Kaii Jiken PlayStation Portable: - Major League Baseball 2K9 - Maplus: Portable Navi 3 - Sekai wa Atashi de Mawatteru: Hikari to Yami no Princess Square Enix's long-awaited RPG sequel Dragon Quest IX: Hoshizora no Mamoribito will debut in Japan this week for the Nintendo DS. The Dragon Quest series has remained a favorite among gamers in Japan for decades, and this week's release is expected to remain a top seller for weeks to come. Few other titles are willing to compete with Dragon Quest IX in its first week of release. 2K Sports' Major League Baseball 2K9 will attempt to grab a share of the market on multiple platforms, while Sony's GPS title Maplus: Portable Navi 3 headlines this week's PSP lineup.
