Representatives from publisher Red Mile Entertainment have officially announced Jackass
, a video game adaptation of MTV's popular television and movie property expected to ship this fall for the PlayStation 2, PSP, and Nintendo DS.
According to Red Mile, Jackass the Game
will be published by MTV Games, and as with the show itself, with feature a focus on bigger than life stunts across more than 35 different scenarios.
The title will also include dynamic physics and detailed ragdoll modeling, as well as a detailed in-game injury system that “tracks every impact...from virtually broken femurs to ruptured spleens.” The more punishment that the player inflicts upon the Jackass characters, the higher the player's score.
The upcoming game will cast players in the roles of the show's popular on screen personalities, including Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and others as they engage in a variety of crazy, and oftentimes painful stunts.
Examples offered by Red Mile include “careening down the streets of San Francisco in a garbage can while dodging traffic to running off on a golf cart at a golf course while trying to hit every destructible object in the way.”
While fewer details have yet been released on the PS2 and DS versions, Red Mile has promised that the PSP version, in development by Sidhe (GripShift
), will contain unlockable footage from the Jackass TV series.
It will also included a "fully realized replay engine" with detailed camera controls and editing features that will allow players to save and trade clips though the PSP's wireless functionality.
"We have set a new precedent with Jackass the Game
," said Chester Aldridge, CEO of Red Mile Entertainment. "By bringing the successful and popular series to the PSP system, PlayStation 2 system and Nintendo's DS, we have combined forces with MTV to deliver an exhilarating experience for gamers."
