Quazal has released Personal Editions of Net-Z and Eterna, the company's high-level network APIs for multiplayer and massively multiplayer games, respectively. The Personal Editions contain the same features as found in the commercial versions of the tools, including fault tolerance, data extrapolation, load balancing, and object migration. The Personal Editions of Net-Z and Eterna allow users develop software for personal use only; the company wants to encourage independent developers and hobbyists to experiment with the technology and learn how to network-enable games. Quazal states that use of the products is restricted to personal, non-commercial applications only: shareware, projects for public exhibition, and use in schools and training center classrooms or courses is considered commercial use. Net-Z 3.0 Personal Edition and Eterna 1.5 Personal Edition are available immediately for free download from http://www.quazal.com/devzone. Both products run on the Windows operating system.
