Quazal, the creator of the Net-Z game networking engine and the Eterna MMOG system, has announced its latest offering for developers of online games. Rendez-Vous allows developers to create an online "lobby" that provides a way for gamers to meet, create groups or competitions, and provides the backend tools necessary to manage all this, including authentication, messaging, account management, and so on. The backend can be customized with the Python scripting language, and the whole system can be used on Quazal's own hosting service or licensed for use with any other server infrastructure. The company plans on releasing a beta version at GDC next month (including a detailed demo on Thursday, March 25th, at 3pm), and will be shipping the final product by the end of the second quarter.
