Developer and publisher Paradox Interactive says it has appointed Fredrik Wester as its new CEO, effective immediately.
The Swedish company exclusively releases PC games, with a particular focus on strategy titles. It is known for its Hearts of Iron
and Europa Universalis
franchises, among others.
Paradox also operates digital distribution service GamersGate, which supports both Paradox's own titles as well as those from external firms.
Wester joined Paradox in 2003, eventually serving as publishing director and, most recently, executive vice president. Today's announcement made no mention of chairman and previous CEO Theodore Bergquist, who presumably remains the company's chairman.
Said Wester, "Leading Paradox has been a goal of mine since day one here. We have an outstanding internal team in place and have developed partnerships that will help elevate Paradox to the next level. I look forward to leading that charge."
This year, Wester spoke to Gamasutra
about his company's PC and digital distribution strategy, its future plans, and its new imprint Mezmer Games.
