PSP Leads DS In Weekly Japanese Sales

Sony's PlayStation Portable platforms outsold Nintendo's DS line of handhelds on a combined basis in Japan for the week ended June 6, Media Create reported Friday.
Sony's PlayStation Portable platforms outsold Nintendo's DS line of handhelds on a combined basis in Japan for the week ended June 6, Media Create reported Friday. Combined sales of PSP-3000 and the newer PSP Go were 24,614 units, the tracking firm said. That includes 23,588 units of PSP-3000 and 1,026 of PSP Go. The DS line -- which includes DSi LL, DSi and DS Lite -- had combined sales of 20,699. The DSi LL sold 10,737, DSi sold 8,219 and DS Lite sold 1,743 for the week. The prior week, Nintendo DS took the top slot overall with 29,552 in combined sales, versus PSP's combined sales of 26,286. On the home console front, the PS3 narrowly edged out weekly Wii sales, selling 18,951 and 18,818, respectively. Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended June 6, 2010.
