PSP Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II Canceled

LucasArts has confirmed that it canceled the PlayStation Portable version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, according to media reports, as PSP game sales continue to lag.
LucasArts has confirmed that it canceled the PSP version of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II, according to an IGN report. The sequel to 2008's 7 million-selling original is still slated to launch this fall on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo DS, Wii and PC. LucasArts did not comment on the reason behind the cancellation. While it is not clear whether the cancellation was due to development issues or profitability concerns, it certainly weighs in favor of an analysis from earlier this year that showed PSP software sales lagging behind DS games by eight-to-one in the U.S. market. However, Sony recently reported a gain in PSP software sales for its first quarter, selling 9.2 million units, a 900,000 unit year-over-year increase. The original Force Unleashed received mixed reviews, but sold strong out of the gate, selling 1.5 million units at retail in its first week. The game launched on major consoles and handhelds, including PSP. The game also went on to receive the Writers Guild of America Award for best video game writing in 2009.
