Metrowerks has announced that Capcom Japan has selected the CodeWarrior Development Studio as its game content development tool for Sony's PSP handheld. According to the creators, CodeWarrior Development Studio for PSP supports overlay, a programming technique that maximizes the use of limited memory capacity and is especially important for content creation targeting consumer game platforms. "After using other development tools for PSP, we adopted the CodeWarrior studio for its overlay support capabilities, which were not available in other toolsets we evaluated,” said Takahiro Yamada, team manager for Capcom’s Software Technology Group. “Overlay support is very helpful since it often improves game development efficiency. We also have benefited from key CodeWarrior technology features, including the powerful debugger and user-friendly development environment." Capcom has already released titles such as Vampire Chronicles on PSP, and is readying forthcoming Japanese PSP titles including Rockman Dash, Rockman Dash 2 and Breath Of Fire III.
