The launch of the PlayStation 3 Slim has netted Sony its biggest sales week ever in Japan. The redesigned, price-reduced console sold 150,252 units in its first three days on sale, according to Enterbrain data translated by consumer weblog Kotaku. According to the report, this weekly sales figure surpasses any week the PS3 has ever seen since its November 2006 launch -- even despite supply constraints at retail. In its first two days, the console sold 88,000 units, but would have sold yet more if supply had been at maximum. Overall, life-to-date sales are now up to 3,431,964 units as of September 6, says Enterbrain. The PS3 Slim saw a similarly-strong launch in the UK, where Chart-Track data saw sales up elevenfold week over week -- the first time the platform has outsold all its fellows in the region since November 2008.
