Officials from South Korean developer WeMade Entertainment ( Legend of Mir series) have announced that the company has licensed Crytek’s middleware engine CryENGINE for the developer's upcoming massively multiplayer online PC game NED. CryENGINE is a middleware graphic solution developed by Crytek, best recognized for the Far Cry series of first-person shooters, as well as the upcoming shooter Crysis. The technology offers, among other things, real time editing, bump mapping, static lights, network system, integrated physics system, shaders, shadows and a dynamic music. NED, which is described as a hybrid of popular MMORPG and real-time strategy elements, marks the second title from WeMade to utilize CryENGINE. The company previously used the engine for its MMORPG Kailas. “The powerful CryENGINE Sandbox allows us to rapidly prototype new ideas, while the engine itself has proven to be powerful, stable and very scalable,” commented commented Sookiel Kevin Seo, CEO of WeMade Entertainment. “We are confident our next title will also greatly benefit from its features. It’s clearly the leader in its class.”
