The creators of the PathEngine SDK, a toolkit for implementing intelligent agent movement based on a 'points of visibility' pathfinding solution implemented over arbitrary 3D ground meshes, have announced the release of V5.02. The key feature of this new version is direct support for two-stage content processes based on 'content chunks' created in one content application and then later placed in the world by a separate tool.
The 'content chunks' support added with release 5.02 adds to existing content processing functionality to increase flexibility and to enable this functionality to be adapted more easily to a wider range of content tools. This is particularly useful for developers working with very large worlds. These chunks can also be 'pre-validated' by developers in order to allow for early sign-off and direct feedback without causing validation issues. Additionally, support for content chunk export has been added to the 3DS Max exporter, and an example project has been added to demonstrate the feature.
PathEngine has also added to its list of clients by signing Dimps, Sonokong, and Webzen. These are in addition to other recent clients such as Joyon Entertainment, B-Alive, CJInternet, Master Creating, and NetTimeSoft, and others, a full list of which is available online
