HeroCraft HiTech announced that it has released the beta version of its cross-platform realtime 2D & 3D game engine, MobileDragon, which is written entirely in C++ and has been developed exclusively for PDAs and Smartphones. The beta can be downloaded from the official website. It comes with documentation and samples and integrates features for visual representation like dynamic lighting, LOD system, particle systems, character animation, and collision detection. All of MobileDragon's features are accessible through a C++ interface Key features included within the MobileDragon 1.0 beta1 are an OpenGl ES & software 3D renderer for z - buffer, gourad lighting, perspective correction, and alpha-blending, as well as a software 2D renderer. MobileDragon is also platform independent, and runs on Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket, Windows Mobile 2003 -Smartphone, Symbian OS 6, 7, 8, 9, and Palm Os. In addition, the system supports a variety of compilers, including eVC 4 SP 4, Visual Studio 6 SP 6, Visual Studio 2005, Metrowerks Codewarrior 10 (Palm), and gcc 2.9.6. The current version of MobileDragon also includes a 3DStudio Max model exporter plugin, as well as support for morphing and 2D and 3D sprites. Finally, MobileDragon includes resource storage in compressed container, network support for both Bluetooth & TCP/IP, sound support for wav and mod playback, and an input system supports device keyboard and stylus.
