Worldweaver has announced that the new version of DX Studio, its 3D PC game creation suite, has been released. The new version of all editions, including Freeware, Standard, and Pro, have been updated with new features. Some of the additions in version 1.28 include the ability for different animations to be played on different instances of the same mesh, the ability to set default script for a mesh, enhanced system.file.access, smaller player install, the capability to queue up animations, multiplayer instance support in the same process, and the ability to edit an object's subgroup individually for different objects. In addition, the new new version, which is updated to June 2006 DirectX, adds a new object.attach function that allows attaching to subgroups of other objects, the ability to configure meters per unit, rolloff and doppler factors of a 3D sound listener on a camera, a new runtime property on a mesh for calculating distance, the capability to combine a multi-level mesh into a single dxmesh file to tidy up the Meshes view, and better integrated FX material support, and others. More detailed information on these and other new features and their use is available at the DX Studio website. The official site also offers a full download of the new version.
