Discovery Sound announced the release of 8BIT Family 2, a CD-ROM with over 530 MB of old videogame sounds recorded in 16-bit, 44.1 kHz. The recordings are available in Acidized Wav, Rex2, Kontakt, Battery, and RNS for Reason 3.0.4 formats. The most significant additions to this collection over the previous version are the over 55 construction kits, which give the user a longish complete mix and the separate components including drum loops, bass loops, synth loops, vox loops. To access those files easily, this CD-ROM also covers a list of the construction kits. The samples are all recorded in a wide variety of styles and tempos. In addition, this new edition covers larger formats than those included with the first 8BIT Family CD-ROM. The disc includes a number of samples for RNS format that the user can process and edit, and there are catchy 27 Kontakt programs included as well, which enable the performance of the light chip music on a keyboard, and useful sound-effects in Wav and Battery formats.
