Bionatics, developer of 3D plant modeling and simulation tools for the CG industry, has announced the release of a collection of tropical 3D plant models, all of which are compatible with the firm's EASYnat and natFX products.
The library includes fruit trees, palm trees, bushes, flowers and grass. According to the company, it now offers the largest 3D plant library for the 3D industry with more than 380 different species available online for use with Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Autodesk VIZ and Autodesk VIZ Render.
The Bionatics’ seeds are based on an “expression” of the genetic code of the real plants which are measured in the field. This enables a realistic simulation of the plants in 3D regardless of their age or season with a multitude of possible variations. The natFX and EASYnat “growth engines” allow users to generate plants according to their needs, ranging from very high resolution to real-time visualization.
“This new collection was requested by our clients,” commented Stephan Gourgout, vice president and sales director for Bionatics. “These efforts included several months of work firstly with the measurements done on site in Europe, America and South East Asia, and then at Montpellier in the Bionatics R&D lab where the measurements are converted into virtual seeds.”
