Pre-E3: Square Enix Showcases FFXIII Titles, DQ Wii

At today's pre-E3 conference, Square Enix revealed the Fabula Nova Crystallis - Final Fantasy XIII series, a simultaneous development of three original titles for PS3 and mobile phones, plus a Dragon Quest title for Wii.
At today's pre-E3 conference, major Japanese-headquartered publisher Square Enix revealed the Fabula Nova Crystallis - Final Fantasy XIII series, encompassing the simultaneous development of three original titles for numerous platforms, including the PlayStation 3 and mobile phones, as the company tries to create an entire franchise out of the next in the FF series. Also showcased was a new Dragon Quest title for Nintendo Wii. Currently the company is developing two titles for the PlayStation 3 system: Final Fantasy XIII, for which impressive CG-style footage was shown at the Square Enix press event at the Hollywood Palladium, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII, for which only a logo was shown, along with the information that it is a collaboration between the Kingdom Hearts and Advent Children teams. In addition, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, a multiplayer RPG is also in development for mobile phones. Also announced was Dragon Quest Swords: The Masked Queen and the Tower of Mirrors for Nintendo Wii, which, according to the company, "is being developed with every aspect of the unique Wii hardware in mind. Additional details, including ship date and pricing, will be announced at a later date." Also announced were new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles titles for both the Nintendo DS and Nintendo Wii - Ring of Fates for the DS and Crystal Bearers for the Wii. It's notable, however, that none of the Square Enix games were confirmed for the Xbox 360, a major snub for Microsoft. Gamasutra will have more details from the major E3 pre-show press conferences, including Sony's PS3-related briefing, in the near future.
