Sony's PlayStation 3 led Japan's hardware unit sales charts for the second week in a row, Media Create reported Friday, outselling PSP and combined sales of Nintendo's line of DS hardware.
PS3 sold 50,448 units during the week ended March 28. The console also
had the best-selling game of the week with Koei's
Fist of the North Star: Warriors, which sold 385,295 units.
PS3 sales were steady from the week prior, when the console sold 50,164. That week, Sega released the chart-topping PS3-exclusive game
Yakuza 4, and consumers lined up for the Torne, a digital recorder accessory for PS3. In the week prior, the PS3 sold around 26,000 units.
Sony's PSP handheld landed in the second slot with sales of 48,323 units, which includes 46,449 units of the PSP-3000 and 1,874 units of the newer UMD-less PSP Go. The DS line sold 45,559 during the week (DSi LL: 23,188, DSi: 17,376, DS Lite: 4,995) to land the third spot overall. Wii sales climbed to 36,849 from 31,101 a week ago.
Below are the full sales rankings from Media Create for the week ended March 28, 2010. (The second chart lumps together sales of all models in a given line of hardware.)
