PixelBox Academy, a professional training school, has announced five new online courses for the Spring/Summer 2007 semester. Four of these emphasize video game education.
3D Character Animation promises to "guide students in the process of creating high-quality character animation for feature-length digital media and video games. During the course students will learn how to explore the concepts of anatomy, weight, motion, timing, plotting animations and facial animation."
Graphics Programming with OpenGL ES will "introduce students to OpenGL ES, the graphics API behind PlayStation 3 and modern mobile phones with hardware OpenGL ES support. The course will provide the foundation needed to create 3D graphics applications using OpenGL ES. It will focus primarily in the development of mobile games using OpenGL ES, with special attention in games developed for Symbian OS | UIQ 3."
Digital Illustration for Concept Art will highlight the process of concept art from start to finish, since "the creation of concept art is a crucial step in the development of video games, animated movies and visual effects. It bridges the gap between what only lives in your head as an idea and the final result on paper."
The Drawing Foundation online course is designed for all types of students and professional with the interest of increasing their art skills. "Students will learn how to draw from complex human forms to beautiful scenery. The course will begin with the very basics of drawing psychology and will progress providing the students with several techniques to improve their drawing style."
