Representatives from motion capture firm PhaseSpace have announced that the company has joined Epic's Unreal Engine Integrated Partners Program giving developers access to the company's mocap pipeline that allows real time previewing within the in-game engine.
PhaseSpace says its product pipeline improves on former workflow solutions that required revising and hand-adjusting data before importing into a game engine, allowing real-time previewing that reduces capture processes to "seconds, rather than weeks."
The PhaseSpace system uses active LED markers which assign each blink a unique ID, giving the system "3 times the speed and 3 times the resolution" and allowing the computer to take over previously manual labor.
PhaseSpace also claims its data is ten times cleaner, with no marker swaps and automatic occlusion handling via its Recap Editor and Impulse system, which the company claims can be easily used by any non-technical staff.
Said Epic vice president Mark Rein, “We are delighted to welcome PhaseSpace into the IPP program, and like our other IPP partners, believe that their technology is industry leading, and has the potential to deliver added value to development teams already using Unreal Engine technology.”
