Penny Arcade has announced the Penny Arcade Scholarship, first run in 2007, is to return for the 2008-2009 academic year. The Penny Arcade Scholarship is a $10,000 award granted to one qualifying student applicant intending to pursue a career in the game industry.
The application requires a two-page essay describing the applicant's studies and intent to benefit the game industry, two letters of recommendation, and a copy of the applicant's current academic transcripts.
Other eligibility requirements include that the applicant must be a full-time student currently attending an accredited college or university, must have the intention to enter the game industry in some capacity and have a GPA with a 3.3 minimum on a 4.0 scale.
In addition to the above, applications will be evaluated based on “a student's service, leadership, character and financial need.”
