Gimpel Software is rolling out Version 8.00 of its PC-lint for C/C++. PC-lint is a static analyzer that analyzes a mixed suite of C and C++ programs and reports on bugs, glitches and inconsistencies. The software is designed to aid in developing more reliable, maintainable and portable programs, allowing users to catch problem code earlier in the development cycle. Gimpel is touting new functionality called Inter-function Value Tracking, that builds off the inter-statement value tracking introduced in earlier versions of PC-lint, allowing the tracking to extend across function boundaries. PC-lint Version 8.00 also includes better exception analysis, better location of const opportunities and enhanced checking for adherence to the MISRA (Motor Industry Software Reliability Association) Guidelines. PC-lint runs on Windows, MS-DOS and OS/2, and costs $239 for a single workstation license.
