WildSnake Software has announced a collaboration agreement with
Tetris creator Alexey Pajitnov, meaning that Pajitnov will design an exclusive lineup of games for WildSnake's casual PC game series. The first game in the series is now under development, and will be announced in the near future.
This announcement marks the first notable news involving Pajitnov in some time, and seems to confirm reports that the Russian-born
Tetris originator is no longer working at Microsoft. In the last few years, the infamous designer has created the early casual PC title
Pandora's Box for the Seattle-based giant, and also designed puzzle title
Hexic for the MSN Zone online game website.
Most recently, mobile publisher Jamdat
purchased a 15-year Tetris mobile license along with its acquisition of The Tetris Company co-founder Henk Rogers' Blue Lava Wireless, and although not directly involved, it's likely that Pajitnov's ownership of the
Tetris property meant that he was a financial benefactor of the deal.
As for WildSnake itself, the founders, former Microsoft employees, have previously taken part in the development of
Microsoft Entertainment Pack: The Puzzle Collection in association with Pajitnov, as well as
Microsoft Pinball Arcade, and are particularly known for the
WildSnake Pinball series of casual titles.
