Edmonton, Canada-based SGC–Link Corp., makers of the Opengine SDK, has announced the start of the company's Opengine Indie Xtra Game Development contest. The content, for independent developers, involves making interactive bingo games created using the Opengine SDK, a software development kit created by SGC–Link Corp. to allow outside developers to create games compatible with the company's Gecko Xtra electronic bingo gaming system. The contest is geared towards independent game creators looking for the opportunity to showcase their talent and earn extra cash for their game development skills. The contest opened October 31, 2004 and runs until midnight July 1, 2005. Winners will be notified during the first week of August, 2005 and officially announced at the 2005 Global Gaming Expo (G2E), to be held from September 12-17, 2005 in Las Vegas, NV. The grand prize is $10,000 USD, which will be awarded to the best all round game. There are also three runner up prizes of $2500 each. The contest rules explain that the winner will transfer the rights to their game to SGC-Link in Canada only.
