Charity game development studio OneBigGame and its founder Martin de Ronde (former co-founder of
Killzone developer Guerrilla Games) have announced a new event aimed at getting games industry notables outside and onto some wheels.
The
OneBigBikeRide event is planned for September 5-12th of next year, with the goal of getting industry veterans in a charitable spirit.
The route will start in Yosemite National Park, wind through the Napa Valley before crossing The Golden Gate Bridge to finish in San Francisco. The event is limited to just 50 individuals.
First announced in March of 2007, the idea for OneBigGame is based on the belief that the video games industry, one of the largest entertainment industries in the world, with its vast creative resources and through the tremendous impact it has on popular youth culture, is perfectly placed to raise funds for charity as well as raise awareness among youth audiences for the causes it supports.
Said de Ronde, “We’ve already had a great response to the ride with sign-ups from industry journalists, developers and publishers. It’s a great way for us to raise additional funds, spread the word about OBG and get a little fitter.”
