NxN Software, creators of the Alienbrain Digital Production Management System, have introduced three new extensions at GDC today. These extensions are designed to work on top of Alienbrain v.5.0, and enhance existing project management, studio management and bug tracking functionality.
The first extension is the PMX (Project Management Extension). This improves the integration between Alienbrain and Microsoft Project (both 2000 and 2002), allowing project managers to maintain multiple project plans per team, and associate media assets with tasks. PMX also allows managers to distribute project tasks with Alienbrain, while keeping task completion and project progress in real time.
Second is SMX (Studio Management Extension), which provides reporting functionality to studios that are already using Alienbrain’s Team Productivity Servers. These reports can be accessed either in the studio’s intranet or over the Internet using a standard web browser. The goal of this extension is to make it easier to track progress and productivity for each user of user group.
Last, NxN introduced BMX (Bug Management System), which provides a comprehensive bug-tracking system. Using BMX, teams can submit, store, delegate and track bugs in projects using Alienbrain. BMX also provides a reports which summarize the bug tracking process in detail.
By using these new extensions in conjunction to existing functionality, NxN expects to re-define “the way game production ought to be”.
