Nvidia Corporation today introduced the new GeForce 6200 graphics processing unit, which features their new hardware and software technology, TurboCache. TurboCache allows the GPU to render directly to the system memory, rather than local memory on the graphics card, which Nvidia promises will lower overall on-board memory requirements, with no loss to graphical capability. The new product is aimed at the value market, and is the only graphics card in that range with that supports Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Shader Model 3.0, as well as Nvidia’s own software suites. Ujesh Desai, Nvidia’s general manager of desktop graphics, had this to say: “For the first time ever, Nvidia TurboCache will deliver the award-winning feature set found on current-generation high-end GPUs to the value segment of the PC market.”
