Yesterday, Nvidia announced four Nvidia Quadro graphics cards. The graphics solutions will feature multiprocessing scalability; increased bandwidth; advanced vertex and pixel programmability to allow for the creation of real-time shaders that can simulate a range of physical effects and surface properties; and 128-bit floating-point precision, according to company literature. Nvidia’s chief scientist Dr. David Kirk also said yesterday the company’s operating system will not compete with Windows Media Center, according to a news report from ARN. Speculation began when the company decided to offer nStant Media, which is a Linux-based boot for viewing digital media, as a free download from the company’s web site or included in the graphics cards purchase.
