Following the launch of three new DSI XL colors in Japan, North America is getting a new color choice for the upsized portable as well: "Midnight Blue." "Midnight Blue" is the same shade of blue launching in Japan (shown, alongside new green and yellow options). To date, North American DSi XL users have had only the cranberry and bronze systems to choose from. The new colors in Japan premiered alongside a reduced price for DSi XL hardware (there known as DSi LL) -- no such luck for American consumers, who will still pay $189.99 at retail for the handheld. The DSi XL, whose screen is 93 percent larger than the slightly older DS Lite hardware, comes pre-loaded with Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters and Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock, along with the free Nintendo DSi Browser and Flipnote Studio applications.
