The awards, now in their third year, recognize innovation and excellence in the art of making games. Awards will be given in the following categories:

Excellence in Level Design
Excellence in Programming
Excellence in Visual Arts

Game of the Year
Game Innovation Spotlights
Original Game Character of the Year
Rookie Studio Award
Nominations may only be submitted by game developers currently working in the industry, and the deadline to nominate is January 23. The awards will be presented on March 6, 2003, at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Jose, CA.
