In an interview with the Financial Times, Nokia chairman and CEO Jorma Ollila has admitted that sales of the N-Gage console / mobile phone hybrid are “the lower quartile of the bracket we had as our goal”. This is as close as the company has come to admitting that sales of the console have been disappointing, although Ollila insists that the format must be given until November 2005 to prove itself. Nokia has refused to give any sales data for the device and only extremely low sales figures from video game stores – not the device's primary retail outlet – and mass discounting have given any real proof as to how the N-Gage is performing.
