No Slowdown In Xbox Demand, Says Bach

Microsoft’s entertainment and devices division has seen no slowdown in consumer spending during the current slump in the U.S. economy, according to new comments made by division head Robbie Bach. Speaking to news agency Reuters at a promotional event, Bach indicated that despite worldwide economic problems the company’s Xbox, Windows Mobile and Zune businesses have seen no significant decline in demand. Bach described the Xbox business as "doing very well," led by annual release cycles rather than economical cycles. He also predicted that the Xbox 360 would have a "strong" holiday shopping season. Although he made no major product or marketing announcements for either the Xbox 360 or Zune media player, Bach did unveil the new Microsoft-branded "BlueTrack" mouse, which is designed to work on a wider variety of surfaces. The mouse uses a blue laser light and will be launched later in the year. "We're going to reinvent our entire mouse business starting today," said Bach.
