At its E3 media briefing today, currently being
liveblogged by Gamasutra, Nintendo unveiled a new
Super Mario Bros. title for Wii. It's a traditional-looking sidescrolling platformer that allows for 4-player co-op.
The game's main mode is single-player, and it also allows players to switch back and forth between single and multiplayer.
Mario, Luigi and different-colored Toads were demonstrated as playable characters, and users can zoom in and out to make it easier to track the action with multiple characters.
Super Mario Bros. Wii will launch Holiday 2009, and Nintendo says it will demonstrate the title on the E3 show floor.
The company also announced what it calls an "evolution" on
Wii Fit called
Wii Fit Plus. Nintendo says it'll add new physical activities and minigames, enable users to target individual body zones, and let them customize workouts.
It'll hit retail in Fall 2009 as both a stand-alone product and a bundle with the Balance Board.
