Nintendo of Japan has announced, via
its official Japanese website that a new rumble cartridge for the Nintendo DS Lite has gone on sale, priced at ¥1,200 (just over $10).
While a rumble cartridge has been available for the Nintendo DS for some time, the new cartridge has been redesigned to better fit the newly re-designed Nintendo DS Lite, which is less than two-thirds the size of the original Nintendo DS and more than 20 percent lighter.
Currently, only a handful of titles make use of the rumble cartridge, including
Shunkan Puzloop,
Metroid Pinball, and
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. In addition,
Metroid Prime Hunters, which was released in North America on March 20, will take advantage of the rumble feature when it ships in Japan on June 1.
It is as yet unknown if Nintendo will release the redesigned rumble cartridge in North America alongside the Nintendo DS Lite, which is currently scheduled to ship on June 11.
