According to online reports translating an article from Japanese business magazine Diamond Weekly, a Nintendo spokesperson has commented that the controller for the Revolution console (the current codename for the successor to the GameCube) will not feature 'standard buttons' or digital pads. No further hints or explanations were forthcoming, although the company once again insisted that it would be showing the Revolution at E3 in May. However, whether this will be in playable form is still unclear. After the recent tailing-off of the GameCube, many observers are expecting its successor to be a significantly different product. Indeed, Nintendo executives have repeatedly described it as such, although even speculation as to the console’s abilities and positioning has so far been extremely vague.
