Nintendo DS Line Reclaims Lead On Japanese Hardware Charts

Combined Japanese weekly sales of the Nintendo DS Lite, DSi and DSi LL outweighed total sales of Sony's PlayStation 3, which led sales charts for the previous two weeks, Media Create said Friday. Total DS sales were 41,219 for the week ended April 4. That amount includes 21,583 units sold of the DSi LL, 15,526 of the DSi and 4,110 of the DS Lite. PS3 sales were 38,877 for the week, enough to put it on top of the charts on an individual platform basis. The console saw sales rise to over 50,000 units in the previous two weeks, driven by the DVR accessory Torne and bolstered by the chart-topping games Yakuza 4 and Fist of the North Star: Warriors. Combined sales of the PSP-3000 and PSP Go were 39,248, which includes 37,445 PSP-3000 units and 1,803 units of PSP Go.
